Grüss Gott! Welcome to the charming, close-knit community of Öblarn, where we have cherished and nurtured our deeply rooted customs and great quality of life for as long as anyone can remember. Much to the joy of locals and guests alike.
Thanks to its central location, Öblarn, along with our Schlosserhaus Apartments, is your perfect jumping-off point for a mix of culture, nature, sports, and pure enjoyment.
Experience Schladming-Dachstein by train, bus, taxi, or your own vehicle. It's just a quick 20-minute car ride to the bustling town of Schladming, known for its famous ski mountains – Hauser-Kaibling, Planai, Hochwurzen, Reiteralm – and the Dachstein Glacier.
In summer, the Schladming-Dachstein holiday region offers numerous alpine climbing routes, thousands of kilometers of walking and hiking trails, bike and e-bike trails, along with the R7 Enns Bike Path.
Reach Sölktäler Nature Park in barely seven minutes, or drive one hour to Gesäuse National Park.
You can also reach popular destinations like Bad Aussee, Altaussee, Hallstatt, Frauenberg pilgrimage church, and the Admont Abbey library, one of the largest and most splendid ensembles of the European Late Baroque era, within 45 minutes.
Fans of the water will definitely find their “happy place” at the swimming pool in Öblarn, at the beachside resorts and natural lakes in the region, at the Grimming Therme and Narzissenbad in Bad Aussee, and while rafting down the River Enns.
Golf lovers can enjoy this beautiful game at Schloss Pichlarn and a total of four golf courses in the region.
Niederöblarn's Sportsarea Grimming is home to a glider school and airfield.
Furthermore, Sports Area Grimming offers excellent training opportunities for recreational, amateur, and professional athletes, especially for ball and combat sports as well as the lasting sporting trends.
Art and culture are held in great esteem here in Öblarn. That said, it's always worth taking a closer look at the event calendars posted by "Kunst & Kulturhauses Öblarn" and the “Öblarner Haus für Alle”.
One cultural highlight is a festival known as "The Wedding", staged every five years, a tribute to the great Öblarn poet Paula Grogger.
The broad Ennstal valley, lush meadows, the oxygen-rich forests covering the slopes of the Hocheck, Hirscheck, Gumpeneck and the imposing Grimming, shape the character of this captivating landscape.
Whenever you are in the mood for a relaxing stroll, we suggest exploring the footpaths and hiking trails of Ennstal, leading through the farming areas in and around Öblarn, and across our local mountains. The Grimming, meanwhile, is very much a domain reserved for more experienced alpinists.
For visitors with an interest in history, the Walchental valley outside Öblarn has a rich mining tradition just waiting to be explored. For the better part of five centuries, it was the site of busy mining activity. Today, you will be able to visit the carefully preserved and restored Thaddäus mine, the Öblarn Copper Path, and the Schrabach Chapel.
Wassererlebnis Öblarn, completed in 2021, provides practical knowledge about the vital role played by the forest and proactive ways to protect communities against natural hazards.
Enjoy culinary delights ranging from local specialties to international favorites, and experience warm, Styrian-style hospitality throughout the Schladming-Dachstein holiday region: at mountain huts, inns, cafes, bars, and restaurants.
Now you understand a little better why we think Öblarn is such a special village. In every season.
We look forward to welcoming you as our personal guest here at the Schlosserhaus.
